Sioux Beaded Moccasins
Beaded with a large red buffalo track design on the vamps and a dot and triangle geometric along the edges. The beads are Venetian with reddish-orange white hearts, cobalt blue, greasy yellow, and brass faceted metal beads. The ankle edge is lined with blue and gold trade cloth, a later addition. The hide is brain-tanned deer skin with one piece making the upper, the seam at the back, with the tongue sewn in separately. The soles are repurposed parfleche, the inside still showing some of the painted design of the original piece. The moccasins and beadwork are all sewn with sinew with the exception of the trade cloth lining at the ankle. The bottom of the soles show slight wear of use.
