Description
Native American rawhide parfleche embellished with painting. Historically made by women, the rawhide was first stretched and painted in designs symbolizing mountains and rivers before being shaped into the envelope form. The parfleche was used to carry tools or food.
Condition: Some paint fading, wear commensurate with age. Scrapes and small cuts from preparing the hide.
