Navajo Aniline Dyed Beale
A1604
$8,750.00
Late classic Navajo beale. The pair of dress panels is woven with aniline dyed raveled American flannel. The red is a result of a cochineal dye with some light fading. The blue is an indigo dye which is used sparingly in the zig-zag design and the simple stripes. The dominant chocolate brown design is the natural colored wool which has been hand-carded and hand-washed. The tightly woven panels have some damage which has been repaired with the blue cloth, which can be seen with normal wear. This is a one of a kind item.
Condition: Excellent condition for age, this dress was not used very much, normally they are well waren, slight amount of damage as mentioned above. Slight restoration.
Circa: 1875-1880
