Navajo Handwoven Chief Rug
Navajo handwoven Chief rug by Carol Harrison. Chief blankets were more of a trade item which was usually traded to Plains Indian chief's or Pueblo men of high status. Originally chief's blankets were just stripes, they have now evolved into stripes with a stepped pattern design and crosses. The wool used is commercially dyed and the colors used are white, black, gray, red, and blue.
