Forrest Naranjo was born into the Santa Clara Pueblo in 1963 and began making pottery at the age of 23. He specializes in the handmade Sienna style which the Naranjo family is known for today. Sienna firing is a color between that of the traditional black or red which began in the 1960’s and 1970’s. It is now referred to as the staple style from the Santa Clara Pueblo. Forrest’s etched pottery features animals, feathers and many other creative designs. In addition, he shapes his clay into bear sculptures, a talent for which he is well known. He signs his pottery: Forrest. He is related to Bernice Naranjo (mother) and Dusty Naranjo.
