Antique Apache Tray Basket
Yavapai Tray. Willow or Cottonwood rods and stitches with black devil's claw stitching. Black circular center emanating geometric designs repeated in sevens to the edge of the basket. Black polygon design fields with unusual figural design repeated in negative in each. I have had suggestions of owl or bat designs, but lean more toward a Gaan Dancer tableta design. Good weave, with larger spacing between stitches indicative of baskets made for the tourist trade.
Condition: Very good condition. No visible stitch loss. One light area of staining (See photographs)
