Ambrose Atencio

Artist Profile

Ambrose Atencio learned to work with clay by watching his family of established artists. Today, Atencio specializes in hand painted Santo Domingo pottery. A desire to preserve the traditional way of his Native American Indian ancestors is what drives Atencio to consistently create elegant works of art. Atencioﾒs pieces usually feature the traditional bird, flowers or geometric designs. He signs his pottery: Ambrose Atencio Kewa, Santo Domingo Pueblo, and the year the pot was made.
