Yavapai Apache Tray

Large Yavapai Tray. Double five-point star design over a large black circle. Arrowhead and coyote figures in the points of the large star. Negative coyote tracks in the black of the circle between the points of the star and checkered triangle designs at the edges. Materials are cottonwood rod, white willow and black devil's claw. Heavy weave, approximately three rods per inch.

Condition: The basket is in good condition. There is evidence of insect infestation at one time in the form of small bore holes throughout the basket. Less than a dozen missing stitches on the face. One area of stitch loss on the back as the basket begins to bowl outward, 6 stitches missing (about 3/4 of an inch). The basket is heavy and the weight of it has begun to fold in. We have attached four hanging points so the basket can be rotated over time to remedy the shape.
