Navajo Handwoven Two Gray Hills Rug
Navajo handwoven Two Grey Hills rug woven by Alberta Henderson with commercially dyed wool which the weaver has re-washed and re-spun. All the colors in this weaving are natural wool colors which Alberta's husband, Daniel, spins into tapestry yarn by hand from their flock of Churro sheep.
Alberta Henderson and her husband Daniel have formed a team. Daniel who also weaves, hand spins the yarn that Alberta uses to create her tapestry rugs. They use Churro wool from their own flock Alberta and Daniel have passed the art down to their children, Lynn and Daenah. Alberta has won numerous awards with her weavings including the Helen Kersting Award at the 2010 Eiteljorg Museum Indian Market & Festival and the Grand Award at the Red Earth Festival in 2017.
