Navajo handwoven Chinle Rug
Navajo handwoven Chinle rug by Lillian Joe. Chinle Rugs are banded rugs and are usually woven without a border. Originally woven in Chinle, Arizona, the Chinle is said to be a revived pattern in the process of being reintroduced into rug weaving. Most rugs are woven with commercially dyed wool which the weaver has re-carded, re-washed then re-spun to her preference. This Chinle rug has thin lines of contrasting colors and serrated starburst designs between each band.
