Description
Navajo handwoven Chief rug by Julia Pete. Chief's blankets are more distinguished by its square shape which originally started out as a plain design of stripes. The blankets were traded mostly to either the Plains Indians or to the Pueblo's. This particular rug is embellished with crosses, serrated stepped patterns, and stripes. This rug is woven with commercially dyed wool which has been re-washed and hand spun to the weaver's preference.
