Navajo Handwoven Chief Rug
Navajo handwoven Chief rug by Cassandra Attakai. Chief's blankets are more distinguished by its square shape which originally started out as a plain design of stripes. The blankets were traded mostly to either the Plains Indians or to the Pueblo's. This particular rug is embellished with stepped patterns, stripes, and geometric designs. This rug is woven with commercially dyed wool which has been re-washed and hand spun to the weaver's preference.
