Margaret and Luther Gutierrez Santa Clara Pot

Santa Clara Pot by Margaret and Luther Gutierrez. Margaret and Luther are sibling potters that learned from their parents Lela and Van Gutierrez. This pot is decorated with an Avanyu known as a water serpent, rain, clouds, lightning with sky bands and other traditional symbols. Each one of her pots are hand coiled and smoothed down to a flat surface. The polychrome painting is sharp and bold, made from natural pigments in all the colors of tan, black, red and green. Each one of her pots were fired outdoors the traditional way.
