Apache Crown Dancers
Navajo hand carved Apach crown dancers by Ernest Thomas. Crown Dancers are a very old and sacred tradition of the Apache, some say as old as the Apache. According to Apache belief, the dance was taught to the Apaches by the mountain spirits as a way to prosper and for healing. The Crown Dancers are the Ga'an, or mountain spirits. This carving features five Apache crown dancers on a decorated piece of wood.
